Position Description & Overview
Title: Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO)
Reports To: Executive Director
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (with some evenings and weekends)
Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000
Job Classification: Full Time, Salaried, Exempt
Union Representation: This position is not part of a union.

The CFAO is a newly established executive role designed to integrate financial management with administrative oversight. This position will significantly influence the organization's success, shaping policies and strategies that foster stability, growth, and innovation. The CFAO will coach and cultivate cohesive teams, empowering all staff to contribute effectively. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strategic, financial, and administrative leadership experience to help us ensure that every person and family has a stable place to live, with their basic needs met and a hopeful path forward.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership

Serve as a member of the Executive Team, collaborating to establish strategies that ensure the organization's longevity and growth.
Work closely with senior leaders to align strategic priorities and long-term goals with annual budgets and operational performance.
Provide financial and strategic insights to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, supporting informed decision-making through clear reporting and analysis.
Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community partners across various sectors.
Finance

Lead and support the Director of Finance in presenting timely and accurate financial reports.
Recognize and address financial opportunities and challenges, developing strategies to drive positive results.
Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and oversee audits, maintaining robust banking and investment relationships.
Establish and uphold internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
Human Resources

Support the Deputy Director of HR & DEI in delivering comprehensive HR services, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
Foster a compassionate workplace culture and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Embed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into all levels of operations.
Contracts & Compliance

Guide the Director of Contracts and Compliance in developing strategic funding plans for long-term financial stability.
Oversee contract and grant accounting to ensure alignment with budgets and compliance with agreements.
Information Systems

Develop IT strategies to ensure the use of current and emerging technologies that enhance organizational operations.
Manage contract negotiations with IT contractors and service providers.
Leadership

Drive operational excellence by optimizing processes and systems for effective workflows.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the organization.
Support the development of leadership teams, ensuring resources are available for growth and career advancement.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in senior leadership roles in finance and administration within the nonprofit sector; government program/contract experience preferred.
Strong organizational leadership skills with a proven ability to set inclusive strategies.
Expertise in finance management, accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
Experience implementing trauma-informed care and developing inclusive policies and procedures.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a history of coaching diverse teams in DEI principles.
Ability to build trust and collaboration among stakeholders, recognizing the value of human capital.
Additional Skills and Abilities:

Commitment to the mission of ending homelessness and relieving hunger through action and advocacy.
Desire to foster an anti-racist culture within the organization and the broader community.
Belief in housing stability as achievable for every household.
Understanding of harm reduction and housing-first philosophies.
Ability to engage respectfully with diverse clients, coworkers, and stakeholders.
Proficiency in trauma-informed care and client-centered approaches.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort with technology.
