Job Description

The Clinical Diabetes Educator will provide diabetes education in individual and group settings in an outpatient clinic. The Clinical Diabetes Educator will work closely with the providers in the Endocrinology department as well as Primary Care to help provide 1:1 visits for patients with diabetes who may need education, diabetes device training, and/or nutrition counseling.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a health or education related field
• Must have a valid license in the State of California as a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
• Current CPR certification/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• At least 2 years patient care experience providing Diabetes Education in a health care setting
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a health or education related field
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential or working toward obtaining this credential
• Experience with Diabetes Devices including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish
