Position Title: Community Outreach Advocate
Reports to: Community Outreach Manager
Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt

The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is a leading non-profit organization serving the New York tri-state area. We are dedicated to empowering women, children, and families—especially immigrant survivors of gender-based violence—through culturally responsive counseling, education, advocacy, and support services. Our mission is to foster safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion, and dignity.

The Community Outreach Advocate plays a vital role in advancing KAFSC’s mission by supporting outreach initiatives that engage the community, raise awareness about our services, and promote volunteer involvement. Working closely with the outreach team, the assistant will handle a variety of administrative, logistical, and community-focused tasks to ensure the success of KAFSC’s programs and events.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Understand and effectively communicate KAFSC’s mission and programs to the community.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, training, and outreach activities, including street canvassing and event tabling.
  • Assist in organizing and executing outreach events, including preparing and packing promotional materials.
  • Develop and track canvassing plans (e.g., target locations) with volunteers and provide on-site support.
  • Attend community meetings, networking events, and other engagements to represent KAFSC.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Manage application assistance activities, including attending meetings, post-event
  • reporting, and data entry.
  • Handle a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, including scheduling, data tracking, and filing.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and prepare progress reports as
  • required.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to promote collaboration and ensure timely response to community needs.

Logistical Coordination:

  • Coordinate the packing, loading, and transportation of outreach materials for events.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, which may involve physically demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, and moving materials.
  • Ensure that all outreach supplies and equipment are well-organized and replenished as needed.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or management team to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of experience in outreach, credentialing, or related activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with data entry, management, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with New York City’s diverse communities and experience working with individuals from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Gmail, Google Drive, and other productivity tools.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Korean is required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling outreach materials.
  • Ability to travel within New York City for outreach events and activities.
  • Previous experience working in nonprofit or community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with volunteers and community members effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $55,000
