Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Are you detail oriented? The City of Wylie Municipal Court is seeking a Deputy Court Clerk. The selected applicant will maintain court records, assist the Judge and Prosecutor, assist customers on the telephone and in person at the cashier's window, implement office procedures and does related work as required. Works as part of a team.
Supervision is provided by the Court Administrator.
Salary negotiable within posted range only: $20.00/hour to $23.00/hour. Essential Job Functions - Provides customer service to citizens, defendants, parents of defendants, and other parties by phone and in person, i.e. answers questions, takes payments, sets court dates, enters information in computer, prepares payment plans, receives required and/or court ordered documents such a copies of insurance, motor vehicle registration receipt, driving record, etc.
- Assists citizens with information regarding the entire municipal court process, i.e. options available, court procedures, etc.
- Prepares cases for court, processes judgments and dispositions, and enters case information into the court software system.
- Assists Judge and court personnel in the courtroom as needed.
- Prepares and maintains court files, both manual and computerized, including data entry and digital imaging.
- Reviews court files for compliance of Judge's orders and prepares arrest warrants for issuance in cases of noncompliance.
- Runs routine reports from court software system.
- Knowledgeable about the entire municipal court process.
- Generates correspondence and documentation to defendants and attorneys related to court case files such as court summonses, letters, promises to appear, document receipts, etc.
- Reviews work for accuracy and completeness.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assists citizens with general information about the City and its services, and directs inquiries to the appropriate department.
- Receives payments for Municipal Court fines and fees as well as cash bond payments in the form of cash, check, money order, and credit card.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with customers and other City employees.
- Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
- Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Four years general business and clerical experience involving customer contact and fiscal responsibility. Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management after hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A desirable candidate has a working knowledge of court operations, policies and procedures. Level I of the Municipal Court Clerk Certification through the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center (TMCEC) or the ability to obtain this certification within two years of employment.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED: Low: Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently or negligible amounts consistently. Requires walking or standing.

- Retirement benefits with Texas Municipal Retirement System. Contributions by payroll deduction. Employee contributes at 7% level. City matches 200% of employee contribution. Mandatory.

- Life insurance - 2x annual salary through New York Life. Fully paid by City and 1x annual salary through TMRS. Total of 3x annual base salary.

- Twelve paid holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Friday following, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and one floating holiday.
