The Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Compensation team has an exciting opportunity for a high-energy, experienced Compensation Manager to create and execute compensation strategies for the CIB organization. You must have a critically important balance of business acumen, organizational agility, strategy development and analytical capability to drive the compensation strategy and initiatives that directly support the business.

As a Global Compensation Manager, you will devise and implement compensation approaches to attract, reward and retain the talent necessary to meet the business’s goals in a rapidly changing environment.  In addition, this individual will lead projects and initiatives across the firm, and represent the CIB on firm-wide project teams. 

Job responsibilities

  • Providing compensation consulting and thought leadership to business leaders and business unit functions in close partnership with HR Business Advisors
  • Performing complex analyses and presenting findings to senior management
  • Leading a team of compensation professionals to deliver a strategic compensation agenda
  • Leverage technical, negotiation and relationship management skills to create, sustain and enhance interaction and influence with HR and line of business clients
  • Providing counsel to HR professionals and business managers about compensation decisions; interpret and apply policies, often in complex situations.
  • Consulting with HR Business Advisors, Executive Recruiting and Senior Managers to create competitive offer packages for key hires
  • Leading compensation related projects and initiatives involving multiple stakeholders with significant strategic and financial impact
  • Continually assessing market conditions and pay practices to ensure competitiveness of compensation plans and programs
  • Translating regulatory and policy governance/requirements into clear guidance for clients
  • Leveraging corporate partners and firm-wide resources to achieve desired outcomes efficiently and with consistency across lines of business, where appropriate

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • HR or compensation experience with strong people management, strategic thinking, influencing skills, and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to lead and empower a team and cultivate and grow junior talent
  • Proven consulting skills; ability to drive business goals through HR / Compensation strategies and to address issues / devise solutions with creativity and innovation
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with internal and external clients and colleagues
  • Client focused, proactive and results oriented, with ability to work within a matrixed, geographically dispersed, complex business
  • Strong project management skills; ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-starting, high energy, trusted advisor on compensation related matters.
  • Exceptional systems skills; Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills required. Business Objects and Web intelligence skills preferred. 
  • Ability to drive and sustain operational excellence and to develop controls
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially teamwork and influence
