About the Role
As the Managing Editor, you'll oversee all content creation for two dynamic platforms, including a widely visited urban planning website and a professional online education hub offering 350+ video courses. Your mission will be to enhance content quality, grow the audience, and reinforce the brand's position as a leading resource in urban planning and design.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute a data-driven editorial strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
Set editorial direction, define priorities, and manage the content budget.
Represent the content team within leadership, reporting on key metrics and initiatives.
Collaborate with marketing, sales, and product teams to achieve shared objectives.
Editorial Planning & Execution
Curate, write, and edit news articles, blogs, features, and more.
Manage editorial calendars and ensure timely content production.
Recruit and coordinate with writers, instructors, and creators.
Contribute to social media and video scripting for broader audience engagement.
Content Quality & Relevance
Leverage your expertise in urban planning to ensure content resonates with a national audience.
Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the planning field.
Team Management
Oversee and support a small team, including an Editor and a Video Producer.
Conduct regular check-ins, set clear priorities, and ensure high-quality output.
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience in media, journalism, or communications.
Strong writing, editing, and content management skills.
Familiarity with urban planning concepts and media landscape.
Proven success in growing website traffic and engagement.
Experience with SEO, analytics, and tools like CMS, Adobe Suite, and Google Workspace.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Enthusiasm for learning and growing within a business environment.

Contribute 5-10 news posts weekly.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $70,000 - $115,000 annually.
