Position Summary:
The Solid Dosage Compounding Pharmacy Technician role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and safety of our medication production process at Empower. This position is essential for maintaining our high standards of service, quality, and innovation, as it involves performing precise compounding calculations, adhering to stringent documentation practices, and following industry guidelines. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP), United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 795 and 800, and attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate (ALCOA) principles will ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
In this role, you will be responsible for accurately compounding preparations, operating and troubleshooting various machinery, and performing production tasks in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) classified, hazardous, and non-sterile environments. Your ability to monitor and adjust equipment, conduct precise testing, and maintain rigorous cleaning protocols will be critical in supporting the manufacturing process. Additionally, your work will involve documenting activities in real-time, ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations, and maintaining an organized and clean workspace.
The Compounding Technician will also play a key role in supporting ancillary tasks such as weight sorting, inventory accounting, packaging, and implementing LEAN manufacturing practices like sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain (5S), reporting compliance case management system (RCCMs), and Gemba. Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs compounding calculations and complete documentation adhering to GDP, USP 795 and 800, & ALCOA principles.
Compounds preparations accurately and in compliance with master formula worksheets following industry guidelines, company policies, current and approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and best practices on safety, quality, and manufacturing.
Loads and unloads machinery with raw materials and finished product.
Operates, troubleshoots, assembles, disassembles, and cleans equipment while ensuring employee safety, product quality and quantity.
Monitors all equipment’s performance to troubleshoot and report any issues and abnormal conditions.
Adjusts equipment based on mechanical properties/concepts such as weight, product deformation, hardness, friability, equipment operational issues.
Operates various packaging machines such as a blister packing machine or an ampoule filler/sealer.
Achieves “personal protective equipment and area qualification” status, allowing entry into the nonsterile labs.
Performs production in an ISO-classified, Hazardous, and Non-Sterile environment.
Performs ancillary tasks and duties that support the manufacturing process such as, but not limited to, weight sorting, inventory accounting, packaging, and LEAN manufacturing (5S, RCCMs, GEMBA)
Performs precise testing on the final product during and after production.
Documents activities in real-time on controlled documentation and legibly, per SOPs and GDP.
Records operational and production data on specified forms and spreadsheets observing GDP, USP 795 and 800 and ALCOA principles.
Complies with safety and quality industry regulations and maintains work areas and equipment clean and in order.
Maintains an ISO-classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of the workspace and components according to USP regulations and company policies.
Ensures cleansing and garbing are performed per company policy.
Prepares work area and supplies thoroughly prior to production.
Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time. Employee is regularly required to fully gown in cleanroom grab for extended periods of time. Employee is regularly required to work with hazardous substances (drugs) and work with strong odors (such as, but not limited to, peracetic acid). The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must be registered with Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Trainee.
0-2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical environment is required. Experience in solid Dosage preferred.
Familiarity with handling tools and labware is required.
Experience disassembling and assembling equipment is required.
Blending, granulation, or compression knowledge and experience preferred.
Previous USP, GDP, or LEAN manufacturing experience preferred.
