Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Procurement Manager to lead our procurement operations in the food manufacturing industry. This location is North of Longview, TX. The ideal candidate will possess 10+ years of hands-on experience in sourcing raw materials, strong expertise in supplier negotiations within the food manufacturing or distribution sector, and exceptional leadership capabilities coupled with industry networking proficiency. This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic procurement initiatives while working closely with cross-functional teams to meet organizational goals. The position is primarily on-site , but candidates with extensive experience may be eligible for a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) .

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Procurement Leadership:

• Develop and execute procurement strategies to optimize the sourcing of raw materials for food manufacturing processes.
• Manage the supplier selection and evaluation process, ensuring alignment with quality standards, delivery expectations, and cost goals.
• Analyze market trends to strategically plan for future procurement opportunities or risks.

1. Vendor Negotiations and Contract Management:

• Lead complex pricing negotiations with suppliers, utilizing a deep understanding of the food manufacturing/distribution marketplace and pricing models.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and industry partners to secure favorable terms.
• Oversee contract development, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

1. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Manage and mentor procurement staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Work closely with departments such as operations, production, finance, and quality assurance to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
• Serve as a senior advisor to executive management on procurement trends, spend analysis, and supplier performance.

1. Networking and Industry Engagement:

• Leverage industry connections to stay ahead of supply chain developments, pricing fluctuations, and emerging suppliers.
• Represent the company at industry forums and events to build awareness and strengthen partnerships.
• Identify opportunities for strategic collaboration with industry peers and suppliers.

1. Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure procurement strategies comply with food safety guidelines, regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Monitor procurement budgets and performance metrics while identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
• Deliver regular reports on procurement effectiveness, supplier risk management, and contract status.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred not required)
• 10+ years of procurement experience , specifically in raw materials sourcing within the food manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiating supplier contracts , with a comprehensive understanding of food manufacturing/distribution pricing models.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing procurement teams and collaborating strategically with executive management.
• Established network of suppliers and industry connections.
• Proficiency in procurement software, data analysis tools, and contract management systems.

Work Schedule:

• Preferred: Fully on-site in Longview, TX.
• Hybrid Option: For candidates with extensive experience, a hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office and 2 days remote may be available.

Preferred Attributes:

• Familiarity with food safety standards and certifications (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP).
• Experience with emerging trends in sustainable sourcing and cost reduction strategies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and minimize procurement risks.
